Closer

Loved, loved, loved this movie!  Great dialogue, wonderfully acted, and as real a plot as you can find out there.  First I must say that I am not a believer of fairy tale romances (although I wouldn’t mind if Clive Owen’s caveman threw me around!) and that is probably why I liked this movie so much.  It isn’t your formulaic girl meets boy love story.  This deals with cheating, lying, revenge and throwing it all in your partner’s face.  Sure on the one hand, these are things that generally hurt people’s emotions.  But on the other, it shows how adults should deal with these scenarios - by being honest, accepting the consequences of their actions and if necessary, staying civil.  It also has Damien Rice’s "The Blower’s Daughter" - the new song of choice for depressives.  My one gripe, what the f*** is with those boots Natalie Portman wears in the opening scene?!  Couldn’t they have chosen something more fabulous?  She was supposedly from New York after all.
